Sunrise with a side of Apocalypse

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     vonHecht woke up at six this morning to see the rare hybrid eclipse from his home in Absecon, New Jersey. Despite news that the eclipse would only last for a view minutes, he says he watched the solar event for a good ten minutes. 'It was actually very haunting. It looked like something out of a movie,' he said. He captured these photographs by setting his camera up and pointing it at the eclipse and turning away because the light was so intense. 'I was constantly adjusting the camera to make sure I was still pointing at it. I just got lucky,' he said.

A partial solar eclipse seen over Brigantine, N.J. on Nov. 3, 2013. According to astronomers, there would only be a viewing window of several minutes from the east coast of the United States.
