‘Doctor Who’ turns 50
Doctor Who and I
- hhanks, CNN iReport producer
- The Doctor: I'm the Doctor, by the way. What's your name?
- The Doctor: Nice to meet you, Rose. [holds up the bomb, shaking it slightly while grinning.] Run for your life!
At Those words I was hooked and little did I know would forever change my life and my fandom! 2010 is when I first learned of the Doctor. Before that, I had no idea what a TARDIS was or that "Doctor Who" even existed. Since 2010 I have watched The Fandom grow here in the US, amounts I couldn't even imagine along with my love for the show.
I have met some of my best friends from the Doctor Who Fandom. I am now one of the most recognized 9th Doctor cosplayers in Florida. With my best friend Allison Farrell as my Rose Tyler. We have won 5 "Doctor Who" costume contests. She isn't the only friend I have met because of The Doctor.
I have become a Huge fan of the show, watched every Episode of the New Era multiple times. I Cosplay 9 but David Tennant (10th Doctor) is my Doctor. I do love 9 (Christopher Eccelston) as well. Allison and I have even Befriended The popular Celtic Doctor Who Band. "The Ken Spivey Band" Allison has since become a member of the Band, traveling to Conventions in the Southeast with the Band. Ken is also the Host and Creator of the Doctor Who Convention (Timelord Fest)!
Thanks to Doctor Who I have met some AMAZING people and it has helped my confidence, my personality and so much more. I honestly don't know what I would do without Doctor Who in my life anymore, I will forever be a Fan! Happy 50th Doctor and I hope for 50 more!!!
