The town of Colville, WA and surrounding areas have been abuzz since the announcement that the Christmas tree that will adorn the Capitol in Washington DC this season will come from our local Colville National Forest.

As usual, they chose a giant tree and from the looks of the tractor trailer they are transporting it in, I'm talking huge. I could only see the top of the tree through the windows in the back of the trailer. People were standing in line to get a peek at the tree and the ornaments made by local school kids that adorns it.

A local elementary school student from Colville won the chance to flip the lights on the tree when it is unveiled in the Capitol.

I also got some video of the display with Christmas carols, Santa Claus, Smokey the Bear and a very festive atmosphere. That we had our first snow fall of the season this morning makes the day all that more magical.

If there is interest, I may post that later.

I know I've been a little MIA lately. I thought this was a good opportunity to share some local excitement from my neck of the woods.

    Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy.
