    Income inequality

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Nicole Lucas of Baltimore, Maryland, feels like the American Dream is “not sustainable; let alone attainable.” Lucas, 37, is paying off school loans and is currently working a part-time job with no benefits, so she’s not in a position to save money. “I feel like I'm living from paycheck to paycheck and owe more than I'm worth. People say go to school, market yourself, cut back, etc. However, the recession taught me that you can have a good job, have a 401k and have a degree, but still be the last to know your job is going to go under.”

My income makes me feel like there is no such thing as the "American Dream". I feel like I'm living from paycheck to paycheck and owe more than I'm worth.  People say go to school, market yourself , cut back etc. However, the recession taught me that you can have a good job, have a 401k and have a degree, but still be the last to know your job is going to go under. It's like you have to plan for if your plan fails. I just feel like a gave up on getting ahead because it's not what you know anymore, it's who you know. I live a completely different life and have a completely different outlook than the rich. Hey at the end of the day, I'm just happy if I get to eat something for lunch at work. People always say to me that I'm beautiful and pleasant but they have no idea how life is a daily struggle. Despite wanting to say, what did that ever get me?, I just smile and say, thank you!
