    1960's Hairdos Of The Past

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     KCRep shot this amazing hair photo of her sister Judy in the late 1960's. She described her as a teenage "lowrider," adding that the car you rode in was just as important. “Life as a teenager was fun back then," said Cordsen. "There was no pressure to be anything but yourself, to enjoy yourself and your friends, it was a good time."

    Assignment: Hairdos of the Past

Back in the olden days (late 60's) in California, you were either a Surfer or a Lowrider if you were a teenager. One could tell which you preferred by your hair style. Surfer's guy's usually had blonde hair cut short, the gals had long flat hair, whereas lowriders had dark and puffed up hair, the taller the hair the better, or so we thought back then.

This is a picture of my sister. Her hair style was the norm back in the 60's if you were a lowrider, at least here in California it was. Ratting your hair back then was the norm, long flat hair on females let you know they were surfers. my sister and I were lowriders because our boyfriends were. We would "rat" our cascade then place it on our head and cover it up with our real hair for that puffed up look.

Did you ever "rat" your hair? Were you a surfer or a lowrider?

The only pictures of me that I could find were professional pictures that I can't use here.
