2013: Your greatest moment
seperated siblings find each other at school
Since then the two families hadn’t been in contact much and as far Libby’s adoptive family knew her birth mother, a 17-year-old girl with a 10-month-old baby boy, was living in a different state.
Fast-forward to November 2013 and Libby and a boy at her school in Beaver Falls, PA, were being teased for looking so alike. “The boy approached her and said that his mother had given up a baby for adoption 13 years ago but he knew it wasn't her because the baby's name was Elizabeth and her name is Libby. My sister told him that she was adopted 13 years ago and that her real name is Elizabeth. They found each other,” said Libby’s sister Taylor Leavens who submitted this photo taken on November 22 at the PPG Place in Pittsburgh where the two siblings had been ice skating around the tree.
“We never thought they would ever meet and if they did we thought it would be facilitated by us. Not on their findings,” she added.
As Libby and her brother Kaleek got to know each other the two families decided to spend Thanksgiving together this year. “I am so thankful that my sister's family is complete and that our family as a whole has expanded. My sister will never have to wonders or have an emptiness. That is the greatest moment of 2013 for us,” said Taylor Leavens.
