    Thanksgiving for Veterans

Today a new Thanksgiving tradition was born.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the blessings you have in life. I for one am very thankful for our Veterans who have served our great Nation with Honor and dignity. My entire family is made up of Veterans. My Father served in Air Force, my Husband served in the Navy, my Father-in-Law also served in the Air Force as well as my Brother-in-Law.

Today the American Legion Auxiliary Aaron Vaughn Unit #399 Palm City hosted Thanksgiving for Veterans. The Thanksgiving dinner was provided by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #399, the American Legion Post #399 and the VFW Post #4194.

There were approximately 45 people in attendance ranging in age from 4 years old up to 80+. The American Legion Auxiliary Post #399 wanted to ensure those Veterans who would otherwise be alone for Thanksgiving, had a chance to celebrate Thanksgiving surrounded by friends and family.

The dinner provided had all the traditional Thanksgiving favorites to include:

    9 Turkeys
    Stuffing
    Mashed Potatoes and gravy
    Yams and Marshmallow Sweet potatoes
    Green Bean Casserole
    Mashed Turnips
    Rolls
    Pecan Pies
    Pumpkin Pies
    Apple Pies
    Cookies and a Thanksgiving Cake

I have to say that I truly enjoyed being a part of this wonderful Thanksgiving. It was the least stressful one I've had in a very long time because I only had to cook one item.

I wish you all a very blessed Thanksgiving and please remember and thank our Veterans!
