2013: Your greatest moment
A Whale of a Year!
"In addition to being a great representation of all the wildlife I have been fortunate to see, the whale is a great metaphor for the year," he says, adding that his wife landed a teaching position and their three daughters continue to make them proud. "In between my travels and the girls’ school schedules, we enjoyed some really memorable family trips to places like the San Juan Islands and the ocean beaches of Washington State."

As an international tour guide, I've had a wonderful opportunity in the last year or so to lead adventures to some amazing wildlife destinations, including Kenya & Tanzania, Brazil, and India. I've seen lions, tigers, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, cape buffalo, cheetah, caiman, capybara, a leopard, and many more fascinating species in their natural habitat. But if I had to pick my greatest moment of 2013 (as far as wildlife sightings go), I'd have to give the nod to an incredible aerial show put on by a massive humpback whale off the coast of Maui in Hawaii. To see that many tons being propelled skyward by the mere swish of a tail was a jaw-dropping moment that I won't soon forget.
It was truly a whale of a year in so many ways, from heartwarming times spent with my lovely wife and 3 daughters, to visiting 13 different countries and a couple of U.S. states during my travels with Walking Adventures. I have a ton of reasons to be thankful and absolutely no reason to blubber as 2013 ends with a splash!
