Protests Call for President Martelly's Departure

Fanmi Lavalas held a nonviolent march today through the streets of Port-au-Prince, culminating in a speech by Dr. Maryse Narcisse, the crowd shouting "Maman Lavalas," in front of the statue of Dessalines. It should be noted that, without the presence of United Nations peace keeping forces (known as MINUSTAH), there was no violence. This has not been the case in previous protests calling for Martelly's departure.
