    Palais de l'Ile

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     arturo7 says he captured a magical storybook moment when he took this photo of Palais de I'lle in Annecy, France. "The unique combination of antique building, the lake, cloudy sunset, street lights and French life style was impossible to pass up," he says. "It took me hours to wait for the perfect moment in which all these elements presented themselves, but when it all came together, all I could think was how fortunate I was to witness it all... and hopefully capture it through my lens." His image was featured as CNN's Travel Photo of the Day for January 21, 2014.

After attending a work conference in Germany with my family we decided to take a few days off and drive through France on our way back to south Italy.

I have 5 young daughters, so a critical part of any vacation planning is considering what our kids would think was fun. Part of our trip included visiting Strasbourg and Annecy.  Annecy has a storybook feel with the a beautiful lake, historical buildings, and canals.

We arrived to Annecy around noon and walked around the lakefront, enjoyed the public parks, and even rented a paddle boat. But once I saw Palais de I'lle I knew I wanted to photograph it with the right combination of sunset+public lights on.  As we were driving away the city lights came on, and I immediately stopped the car in order to capture this magical moment.
