    GARISSA WILL WAKE UP

The wind of change will sweep across the entire Northern Kenya. Soon, very soon, you will hear its soft musical sound from the remotest part of the Chalbi Desert to the very banks of River Tana in Garissa. Our people are tired of fighting, they are sickened by the level of poverty, they loath the high level of illiteracy in our lands, they are appalled by high infant and maternal mortality rates. Our brothers and sisters want to be free from the mass bondage of misery. Our people are held hostages by limited access to clean water, inadequate access basic healthcare services, quality education, etc.
We want our youth equipped with employable skills. We want our children to have access to better educational opportunities. We want our people to live together in peace. We want them to have access to quality health services that are adequate. We want to help our people attack poverty everywhere in the Northern Kenya. We want to build our counties on a scale that has never been attempted before. We want to hold our leaders accountable to our people. We want them to unite and bargain collectively for our people at national level. We want to plant more trees, revive our beautiful nomadic culture and restore the splendour of our land.

So together, we have to forge unity to meet the needs of our people. I know that our people are highly resilient but they need us more than ever before. Let us think and come up with ways to help them. I know this task is noble; I know the work is hard, often frustrating and success is not a matter of days or months, but of years or even decades. But we have to start.

The question is whether we are ready to work together as brothers and sisters for better opportunities for our people? I want to ask you brothers and sisters are we committed to build a better and stronger community-from the thickets of Bothai Forest to the sandy streets of Wajir?
We shall move forward to Canaan. We have to move forward. We have no option. We shall cross the Red Sea of agony. Don't choose to stay in Egypt, brothers and sisters. Come with us to the Promised Land.
