    First ever Police fatally wound a man in Iceland


    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     For the first time in 210 years, Iceland's police has fatally shot a person, according to CNN affiliate TV2 Iceland.
    ander, 48, was on his way to work when he captured this video on Dec. 2 at 6:30 a.m. local time in Reykjavik, Iceland. He says he drove by the neighborhood where the person was fatally wounded by police.
    With a population of about 320,000 people, Iceland is known for its low crime rate, he says. "It is shocking that this has happened here in Iceland," ander says.

    A man was shot by Icelandic Police this morning - in the first ever armed police work in Iceland
    This is without precedent in Iceland .
    The man that was shot was over 50 years of age .

    He was fireing his shotgun in his apartment , and the Police evacuated the building in Reykjavik.
    The could not contact him ,and then they fired gas canisters into his apartment trying to stop him.
    Then the man started shooting through the windows .
    Icelandic Police S.W.A.T. team entered the apartment, and the man shot at them - one police officer was hit in his helmet and one police officers was hit in his shiled , but they where not injured much.
    Police returned fire and fatally wounded the man .
    This has never happend before in ICeland , that armed police has shot a individual in Iceland .
    This all happened last night and morning ( december 2nd ) and i was driving past the incident ,
    and the you can see a police car and a ambulence closing the street into the neighborhood where this happened .
    The man died later in hospital of his wounds -
    People in Iceland are shocked by this .
