    I wanna Tri!

My name is julie and I'm a former US Naval Officer. I'm 36 years old with a 4 year old and 15 month old and I live in beautful Southern California! I work full time in the healthcare industry .. Love my job.. and as like several moms out there one of my biggest challenges is getting back into shape after having kids. i focus and cherish so much of my time feeding my children healthy balanced meals and keeping them active that i sometimes neglect to take care of myself along the way. During my most recent physical my doctor informed me that I'm 20-25lbs overweight and that I have slightly high cholesterol. What!? I was in shock and mostly embarrassed. My initial excuse, "it's hard to "find" time to exercise". my dr said, "stop right there, you "make"time and create a list of activities you want to accomplish, for you". And for some reason those words hit me like a ton of bricks. So .. i've taken control of the drivers seat, per say - I finally joined a local neighborhood gym and registered with a friend to compete in a half marathon in march of 2014. However, i have always ALWAYS wanted to compete in a triathlon!! Ever since my days at the Naval Academy. My weakness is swimming - I've never swam distance in the ocean let alone a couple laps In a pool... and i would love to challenge myself with incorporating running and biking. My biking consists of an occasional spin class....I love team work - and being a part of the 2014 Tri-fit team sounds amazing! My four year old is my biggest champion he loves the Kids Club at the gym and I love his enthusiasm. I'm a firm believer that goal setting is important and the most important role in my life is to be the example for my children and make them proud to call me their mom.
