This iReport is part of an assignment:
    Your spectacular Christmas decorations

    Livingston Lights

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     oxytosin sent us this photo of a large water feature in the heart of Livingston shopping centre near Edinburgh. "I tend to always bring my camera along with me out of habit in case of encountering anything intriguing or picturesque," she says. "All in all, it was a very impromptu shot."

The fountain is a permanent feature of the shopping centre, but has been decked out in walls of festive Christmas lights. "To me, it brings a sense of excitement and also makes me feel very appreciative as it is a sight that can only really be observed throughout one month of the year, much like Christmas itself," oxytosin says.

"It also makes me realise that while Christmas lights and decorations are very simple elements, they can have a powerful impact and really help to bring out the seasonal spirit."

This photo features an ornamental water structure at the heart of Livingston Shopping Centre near Edinburgh, Scotland, which has been surrounded with walls of festive lights in preparation for the Christmas season. The photo was taken while I was out Christmas shopping on a busy Sunday afternoon where already there was a familiar atmosphere of festivity and anticipation in the air. I decided to take my camera along in hope that I could capture some of the pretty and picturesque aspects that this season has to offer.
