    My Johannesburg

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     New Yorker Rjsnyc1 fell in love with Johannesburg, South Africa, while on a trip there in August this year. "I found the people we interacted with on our tour to be extremely friendly and proud people," he said. These images are mostly from Soweto, an area famous for the role it played in the anti-apartheid struggle. The first image was featured in CNN's Travel Photo of the Day gallery on February 27, 2014.
    - sarahbrowngb, CNN iReport producer

My name is Richard and I am from New York City, I traveled to Johannesburg in August of this year, 2013. Traveling with a tour group we went to Cape Town and on some safaris also through out South Africa.
The history of Johannesburg was fascinating to me. I thought I understood South Africa but once there I was surprised at how different the city was to me. Being an experienced traveler and having been to a few rural areas in Rio Brazil and Mumbai India I found the people in Soweto to be by far the friendliest people I have met as of yet. The small children in school, the kids playing in the streets and the vendors we spoke with.
If you want to understand South Africa then Johannesburg is a must stop on your tour of this amazingly beautiful country. Enjoy.
