My best friend Marabah Akers and I talk quite a lot about personal advancement from experience and how our lives are constantly on a winding road with unexpected opportunities popping up here and there. These are the kind of opportunities that change us significantly should we take a turn off the highway of life. When I was visiting Marabah at her University in southern California, we decided to carry out an experience not many would take, skydiving. There were many different emotions while driving out to the desert, putting on our gear, and climbing 13,000ft into the crystal clear sky. We kept looking at each other with varied expressions, often asking each other “Are we really doing this?” Of course we were. I knew then and there it was the highlight of my year because there’s no better person in the world to risk your life with than your best friend. Many of us don’t take these chances in life and I am so happy I did. It was a great chance to realize that its okay to take a step aside from the boundaries of normal society and doing something risky.
