CNN PRODUCER NOTE Marie Lorio shared her memories just prior to the death of Nelson Mandela: 'My husband was with El Paso Energy in London at the time. El Paso wanted to give back and an infrastructure fund was formed with El Paso the largest donator. Mandela was the Chairman of the board. We arranged to meet him in Cape Town. But as he took ill, he asked us to come to Johannesburg. It is a great city. We played golf, shopped, toured Soweto. He met my husband Rick and I (along with five others) for breakfast. We were the only investor present along with fund managers. He gave a short speech and his words were so inspirational. I was thrilled to be in the same room. We all talked about the fund. He asked me about and we discussed my trip to his city and he jokingly asked if I was married. We each took a picture with him. When he left with his men, I followed behind through the hotel lobby. He was like a rock star to me and I was going to keep him in my sight as long as possible. I feel so privileged to have met him. I have been to Robin Island, I have read his book, I have met the man. He has done more for this world in work of equality than any other one man using strength, grace, love and patience. The world was blessed with his presence. I was thinking of him today, and is why I posted earlier before I knew of his death. My thoughts are with his friends and family now. He will be missed.
