The Decay in the Utah Jordan - Second Day of Protest
By Mosali2012 | Posted 14 minutes ago | SLC, Utah

It my second day of protest against police harassment of oppressed communities and the following thoughts come to my mind.

It is  the 5th of December at 8020 South, Rosa Parks Drive. 12:48pm. 25 degrees.  3 cars per minute pass by. Snow on mountains looks like ruffed cotton with energy escaping hesitantly as feeble clouds.

Inquisitive eyes of passers by. Drivers looking through windows stare at the placard: Protest - Officer Adam Julian = Fake DUIs.  Others hurry through the light. Police cars and city cars familiar from the day prior are now driving by without much inspection.

It is no coincidence that on Redwood Road and Rosa Parks Drive lies a complex known as the West Jordan Justice Centre because rather than it being a place of Freedom, it is a source of conflict at least in one way.

It is at this "Jordan" place where members of law enforcement can create DUI citations that lure targets into courts and into jail. This is not your Jordan where people come to cleanse their sins, it is a place for damaging hopes of young and old by issuing DUIs that should not have been issued to start.

Most people take a DUI very lightly. A DUI is a criminal offense that can ruin your life. That is why if a DUI is going to be issued, it must be a real DUI, not a DUI while being black, not a DUI for department revenue, not a DUI because it was an error. But the story I am about to share is about an officer who issues defective DUIs for reasons many by the Jordan may never know because Judge Kunz's court does not question defective DUIs..

First of all, the fact-finding mission in law is out the window because if it were not, Officer Adam Julian's citations would have been scrutinised. He excludes critical information in his citations and yet Judge Kunz's court still considers them admissible as evidence!

As example to illustrate my point of view is a citation issued by Adam Julian on June 23, 2012. The police report neglects to mention that there was a white lady in the vehicle at the time of citation. The citation and report have blank spots which in my view are a room for data manipulation.

Officer Julian woke up a black man who told him that he had back pain, put him through sobriety tests that he failed. The court appointed a public defender to represent the black man. The public defender has advised him that he does not qualify for a jury trial. Many people are asking why the black man has been in jail for over a month over a DUI.

There are many gaps to be filled in this story, but one thing is certain.

They say the Jordan River has been polluted and this is a grave environmentalist's concern. The stench that comes out of Utah West Jordan Police Department is itself a hazard to those who have to breath clean air.
