Nelson Mandela: Your memories
South-Africa mourn the passing of Nelson R Mandela.
- nsaidi, CNN iReport producer
It is with sadness that I learned of the passing of our great leader and world icon Nelson R Mandela.
As a Country we mourn his passing as such a calibre of a human being with such greatness, humilty and sense of passion and forgiveness only comes through life once and is difficult to replace.
I, as a Minister of Religion for 35yrs in the Calvyn Protestant Church of SA, am extremely honoured to be a citizen of a Country that produced such a great leader as Nelson R Mandela. For decades we in the CPC of SA shared his vision and fight against the evil system of Apartheid and it's consequent inhumanity to man.
Here it is worth to mention that before the Mandela's, Tutu's, and Boesak's there were the late Rev Dr ID Morkel who already in 1948 as Minister of Religion in the DR Mission Church, rejected the evil system of Apartheid as the policy of the then Nationalist Party and condoned by the the DRC and FOUNDED the CALVYN PROTESTANT CHURCH of SA (website: www.cpc.za.org) on 15 October 1950.
The FOUNDING of the CPC of SA can be seen as a total break-away from the then DRC for deviding the Church of Christ along racial lines and a total REJECTION of the evil system of Apartheid.
Over decades since it's Founding in 1950 we in the CPC of SA spoke out against this evil system and continuously called on those in power to release imprisoned political leaders such as Mr Mandela and the total demise of Apartheid.
In 1994 our PRAYERS and PROPHETIC VOICE became a reality by the establishment of a new and free democratic South-Africa.
Sadly to say and with much regret, today in SA we experience much disappointment as many of us strongly believe that the very ANC government many voted for and put their hopes for a better life, failed us.
The legacy, ideals and vision of a great leader such as Nelson R Mandela, are being tarnished by arrogant ruling, mal-administration, poor service delivery and above all - enormous CORRUPTION!
Many people, including myself, are moving away from the governing party as the few that enriched themselves are getting richer and richer and the masses that are poverty stricken are getting poorer and poorer by the day!
Above all we greet and salute a man of great stature, leadership and a world icon.
Long live the memory, ideals and legacy of Nelson R Mandela. With sadness we say GOODBYE, yet we will REMEMBER as long as the cords of our memory can lengthen.
There is sorrow in parting, but the sorrow of parting can never be compared to the joy of MEETING AGAIN!
Our SINCERE CONDOLENCES to the Mandela Family, all relevant Families and the people of South-Africa.
May God the Almighty bless us all and in particular our Country - South-Africa.
