This iReport is part of an assignment:
Nelson Mandela: Your memories
A poem I wrote in memory of Nelson Mandela and The Rainbow Nation
This is a poem I wrote for Madeba and The Rainbow Nation!!
Now Madeba was a man
Who did what he can;
he stood up for everyone; now wether they were black or white, that was not within his sight;
Because he believed in humans rights;
So in 1963 came the Rivonia trial;
Madeba and friends they were placed in Cells;
There they would spent most of there days;
living just like political slaves.
So during those years we all shed many tears;
for our country was living under total fear;
There was an uprising here and a uprising there;
And if you open the papers propaganda everywhere.
After 27 years Madeba was released; Negotiations took place, but violence increased; And not to long after that came our first Election;
And to the Polls marched the Rainbow Nation;
Even though the queues were so long; the people made there mark where they thought it belong;
For the first time in our history all had a say;
Democracy in our land seem to prevail from that day.
So this is my message to the rainbow Nation;
Come let's heal this land for the next generation;
All of us can play a vital role; By building this country and making it whole;
We should humble ourselves, go on our knees and pray;
And The Lord Almighty will bless us each day;
We should think about the future that lies ahead;
And means and ways to earn our daily bread.
RIP Madeba and God Bless the Rainbow Nation:)
