Hospital facilities under attack
The UN Emergency Relief Coordinator and the heads of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN Children's Agency (UNICEF) say such attacks can be considered war crimes under international law.
In a joint statement issued late on Friday, they state that health facilities must be respected and protected in all circumstances and should not be used for military purposes.
The UN agency chiefs also express deep concern over the serious implications of attacks on health and other civilian facilities for patients, health personnel and the provision of critical medical supplies.
