Travel photo of the day
While preparing to lead a Christmas in Bavaria walking tour, I had a bit of free time in Munich to explore the wonderful Christmas markets that are scattered throughout the city. While visiting the Christkindlmarkt in Marienplatz, I took a slight detour and climbed up the 306 steps of the St. Peter's Church Tower for this beautiful view of the city. In view are the twin towers of the Frauenkirche, the Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall), with its famous Glockenspiel, and the bustling Christmas markets in the shade below. A magical place to explore during the holiday season.
