Nelson Mandela will live on through the Rand

During my visit to South Africa in August 2013, for the first time I noticed the currency notes had Nelson Mandela or Madiba on them. I chose to keep them as memories of Madiba. The South African Rand has gone down in value lately but will it go down any further with having lost the father of the nation. The more important question is whether South Africa under the leadership of President Zuma ever be able to receive the same admiration and affection from the rest of the world as South Africa with Madiba alive. If South Africa manages to attract tourists from around the world and have investors invest in the future of South Africa, it will thrive and prosper. As South Africans mourn his passing away and celebrate his life and his gift to the world, there will be an outpouring of well wishers, politicians and press descending on South Africa but what will happen when the last rites and the final honor is bestowed remains to be seen.
