    Salute to troops

    Double Duty

    Hi Robin,

Staff Sgt. Russ, is not only a loving husband and father but also an incredibly dedicated soldier. He has proudly been serving in the Ohio Army National Guard for twelve years, when he immediately enlisted following the attacks on September 11th, 2001. He was deployed for eighteen months serving in Iraq in 2004, and again in 2008, for a year in Egypt. Upon returning home from his second tour, we married and began trying to have a family.

Currently, he spends countless hours away from our family to recruit dedicated individuals to serve in the Ohio Army National Guard. Early in February of 2013, we were blessed with twin girls, Hannah Jade and Hailee Renee. I began realizing something rather cute while getting ready for work each day. I noticed that his daily routine is to watch the Morning Express with the girls. Curiously, I asked him why he chooses your show every day and because he is such a gentleman, he smiles and says, “Honey, she just tells the news the best.” Although this is true, I’m certain it’s because he thinks you are beautiful.

My husband’s 35th birthday is coming up on January 3rd. Last year’s miraculous gift of our beautiful babies can never be topped. However, recognition from his wife and family for all of his hard work and a surprise birthday wish from “the one and only” Robin Meade, might certainly take the cake!

Thanks for allowing me to proudly submit for consideration, my hero, Staff Sgt. Russ for your Salute to Troops on January 3rd, 2014.

    Jennifer Russ
