No Work and All Play at a Chinese School's Sports Day
This video depicts the annual Zhoushan Middle School Sports Day in Zhoushan, Zhejiang, China. The school, which despite its name is actually grades 10-12, comes together once a year to demonstrate and celebrate their athletic talent. Compared to their American counterparts, Chinese teens spend far less time on afterschool sports and clubs. They choose instead to concentrate on their studies, save for one weekend per year when all study stops, classes are cancelled, and the school erupts with cheering fans and pent-up athletic energy. I think you'll find that these students seem more like Americans in their school spirit than might be expected.
