    Thank you Mandela!

In September 2004 I have had the privilege to meet and spend sometime with The Great Man himself. This was the biggest event at three-day Pan-African youth conference hosted in Maputo. At the official launch of Vision for Africa 2050, Mozambican President Joaquim Chissano, Graca Machel and our Great Mandela himself were all in attendance.

Mandela and other state leaders at the time posed us a simple question:

What would be your Perfect Africa in 2050?

As young people we had no shortage of answers:
‘Democratic governments accountable to the people.
‘An equal and fair distribution of resources. No poverty. No borders. Sustainable environment practices. Love and respect for one’s land. For one’s animals. For one’s people. For human rights. A celebration of Africa’s unique arts and music. Gender equality. Healthcare for the sick. Tolerance of diversity. The rule of law.

“a continent whose leadership values and natures peace as the cornerstone of development and sustainability.” Declaration of Vision for Africa 2050.

This week with the passing of our great Madiba, the challenge is reignited with a much stronger purpose.
His legacy is our beacon for all of us around the world as we strive to continue his noble work. Below are some of the photos I have taken during that occasion.

Lets celebrate the life and legacy of Mandela!

    May he always be remembered!
