    Icy Web

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Phil Jefferis stumbled across a spider web covered in ice droplets in his Winchester, Kentucky, backyard on Sunday after an ice storm had passed through the prior day. “What I wanted to show was the delicate beauty of the ice forming on a spider web,” he said. “I actually had to poke at the drops to see that they were frozen, which I thought were really neat.”

As far as how Jefferis achieved this photo, he used a UV filter on his camera and then converted the image to monochrome and added a sepia filter in Photoshop. “The lighting was aided by the overcast sky - I love that natural light look,” he said.

Ice drops on a spider web, left behind after the ice storm passed through Central Kentucky overnight on 12/7-8. I actually had to poke at the drops to see that they were frozen, which I thought were really neat. Thought this looked really nice in sepia monochrome.
