    Your New Year's Eve celebrations

    Parent of the Year Awards

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     FloodG says her 11-year-old son Joey came up with the parenting contest in 2008. He and his younger sister get together each month to determine who got the most points. She admits the game has made her 'a little bit more mindful' about having patience as a parent, 'but I would never, ever let them know that.' She says she think she wins every year because the kids are worried about hurting her feelings, 'even though Daddy does all the driving.'
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

Our children give us points for parenting each month. They consider things like quality time, extra snacks, and homework help without yelling. We usually don't parent with the points in mind, but we do remind them during family vacations or special events that we ought to get some good pointage that month.

On New Year's Eve, the points are tallied to determine parent of the year in our house. I'm the undefeated champion to date, much to Daddy's chagrin. In 2013, I received 82,750 points and the coveted winner's cup.

May 2014 be peaceful and healthy for you and your family.
