My wife came to the Unites States from Zimbabwe over four years ago. She was on a full scholarship to play field hockey at university. Her goal - to get an education in the US so she could go back to Zimbabwe and make a difference. We met at that university and were married within a year. She continued her education and graduated with honors. All this time past without her being able to go home and see her family. Finally, this year, we were able to make that trip home to Zimbabwe and have our African wedding celebration. But first, we went to a place called Tsholotsho. In Africa, there is a myth that if a man with the AIDS virus sleeps with a virgin, he will be healed. This myth has caused so many young women to become victims of rape and sexual abuse, often leaving them with the virus themselves. We went to this place called Tsholotsho to build a safe house for these girls. After a week of building, the project was completed and we went on to Harare to finally meet her family and have our African Wedding Celebration. These are the photos from that celebration.
