    London Remembers Nelson Mandela

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     London based iReporter chopsm captured these images of people paying their respects at various memorials which sprung up in the city following the death of iconic South African leader Nelson Mandela. He says he didn't really become aware of Mandela until the famous Free Nelson Mandela concert in London in 1988. "They've lost an important figurehead and people are nervous they've lost a significant part of South Africa," he said. "But can other people now change the direction of the future of the country?"

Central London has become a shrine for Nelson Mandela in the last few days. As my photographs show flowers and tributes have appeared at many locations in London where Nelson Mandela busts and statues are based.

The first photograph shows crowds gathered around the statue of Nelson Mandela in Parliament Square on the same day as tens of thousands of South Africans joined dozens of world leaders for the national memorial service for former President Nelson Mandela.

The second image is from outside the South African embassy where a mass of flowers and tributes have grown out from the embassy building.

And finally, my favorite, is of the Nelson Mandela busk on London's Southbank where from dusk today a selection of quotes by Nelson Mandela will be projected on to the Royal Festival Hall.
