At 5:00 pm, at Bethlehem City Hall Plaza, Organizing for Action/Lehigh Valley will hold a candlelight vigil to honor the 26 victims of Newtown, with partners Mayors Against Illegal Guns and CeaseFirePA.
We’ll also call attention to the more than 30,000 annual victims of gun violence across America, and remind participants that our political leaders have been unable since Sandy Hook to pass legislation to reduce this senseless carnage.
Guest speaker Linda Kozic will describe how, on the night of Aug. 5, 2013, Rockne Newell entered the Ross Township, PA Supervisors meeting firing an assault rifle. That shooting left Linda in a wheel chair and killed three others, including her husband Jerry who died protecting Linda’s life.
Finally, flowers will be placed on empty chairs representing the victims of Newtown and Ross Township and symbolizing our theme: “All across America, we are Newtown.”
