Radio broadcaster shot dead in Tagum City
By Ben O. Tesiorna
A radio broadcaster was shot dead in Tagum City this morning just after his radio program.
The victim was identified as Rogelio "Tata" Butalid, radio blocktimer of Radyo Natin. The 44-year old victim just finished his radio program aired over Radyo Natin Tagum and was already leaving the station along Sobrecarey Street, Tagum City when he was shot dead by an assassin past nine this morning.
Colleagues of Butalid said the victim was very critical of the ongoing corporate war between two factions of the Davao del Norte Electric Cooperative. They suspect that his death could be related to the issue.
The police is still investigating the incident as of this writing and has not yet released any information.
Butalid ran for councilor of Tagum City in this year's election but lost. He was a partymate of the incumbent mayor of Tagum City Allan Rellon.
