    A Bad Day for Pigs

A common village tradition, that which I have also witnessed several times in Romania as well, was on the calendar this weekend here on my trip to Hubei Province. I do not condone nor do I condemn it, although I so much prefer to eat what grows in the ground or on trees. It is what it is, and the necessity vs. preference debate lives on, along with this tradition which is a family affair. So, have you ever enjoyed BBQ ribs or a smoked ham with pineapple? I think twice now, these past few years of seeing the process in action, every time I am offered meat which in reality is not brought to the table without some degree of regret.
