    Remembering the children of Newtown

Last December, after the horrible news about the death of 20 innocent children in Newtown, Conn., I did what many across America did: honor the children. I am a retired Prof. of sculpture living in the small town of Ironton, Ohio.

I used mesh wire to create 20 life-size sculptures of children, and used lights to outline each "child". I then made a star of "hope" to shine above them.

I wanted to install this piece in Newtown this December, but after contacting many people in the area, it became apparent that this was not a good idea...many want to honor the children privately in thought and prayer...which is very honorable.

So I hope I can share this with others in this format. Please remember these 20 beautiful children in your thoughts and prayers.
