    Protests in Kyiv, Ukraine

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Avelio, a student at the National University of Kiev-Mohyla Academy, is part of the ongoing anti-government protests in Kiev, Ukraine, but says the atmosphere changed after Nov. 30. "Before, it was a peaceful student-strike without any political symbols and flags and which aim was to influence government course on EU-integration," Avelio says. "Then after the violent clean up of the student-camp on Maidan Nezalezhnosti the protests became larger and more radical adding support from opposition parties."
Avelio hopes the protests make a difference. "My hope is that Ukraine's government will eventually have enough political will to sign the EU-Association Agreement despite both internal and external pressure," Avelio says.
