When moms want to give something *more* -- Rhona Maulano

Whether it be Xmas, Hanukah or even a birthday, we always gave a book that taught a lesson with an inscription we wrote on inside cover why the book and it's message was important. It started when my son was 5 with the Little Engine that could and up to even this year David and Goliath. The books to this day are stacked in his bookcase. We even wrote notes like 9 Things to remember when you're 9. It's so easy to get caught up In the materialism but you need to make a special point of what holidays are really about.

My father started the tradition when Michael was a baby and would send him a silver dollar with a note every Hanukah. Since he died when Michael was 3 they have (be)come priceless. We just continued the tradition and took it step further.
