While all security agencies were gathered to welcome the Nigeria President from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the Nigeria Police team with a vehicle labeled ACCOS 44 today Friday 13th Dec, 2013 at about 4:30pm attacked a patrol team of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at the Churchgate junction along Constitution Avenue in Abuja. The police forcefully pushed the driver of the FRSC patrol van out of his vehicle and seized the car key from him at gun point and then drove the FRSC patrol van to their (Police) station. Two of the FRSC officials were injured on the head as the policemen repeatedly hit them with the butt of a riffle and ordered the other policemen around to chase the remaining members of the FRSC team away from the scene.
The incident caused a public uproar as the policemen were shooting sporadically into the air causing road users to hide for safety.
A Police officer was later sighted at Wuse Zone 2 on Olusegun Obasanjo way driving the FRSC patrol van, they (Police) started shooting sporadically again and then directly to the FRSC men and had one of the FRSC Marshals hit on the leg and was critically injured.
