SantaCon NYC 2013
- hhanks, CNN iReport producer
Despite a cold weather and snow on December 14th 2013 took place Santacon. If you live in New York City you should be familiar with the event by now. Hundreds of Santas gather each year around Christmas time in one place and take donations for those in need. After some fun, that can include playing Twister on the snow, or a dodge ball, most of them partake in a pub crawl throughout the city.
According to their web site: "Santacon is a non-commercial, non-political, non-sensical Santa Claus convention that happens once a year for absolutely no reason. It’s your chance to spread holiday cheer in the most magical and absurd way possible."
"Last year, the event raised over $45,000 for Toys for Tots and donated 10,000 lbs of canned food to the Food Bank for New York City Santa’s elves worked hand-in-hand with these organizations to benefit those in need.
This year participants were donating $10, which will be distributed between the Food Bank for New York City, FIGMENT Arts Festival (a free, family-friendly arts festival that takes place annually on Governor’s Island), World Hoops (which donates toys to children in need worldwide), and local charities along the Santacon route."
