This iReport is part of an assignment:
What are you watching?
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Is that suspenseful feeling strong enough to keep its audience enthralled so that they'll tune in for the show's return?
Throughout this fall season, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D's ratings have been fluctuating and competing with NCIS's ratings, a show which has the same time slot on CBS.
Tracking the show using TVByTheNumbers, audiences can view the ratings and see how far they rise or drop from week-to-week. According to them, the midseason finale earned a low 2.0 down from a 2.6 for the previous episode. However, they are tracking a specific age range of ages 18 - 49. And if you look to 'ComicBookResources,' for their post entitled "TV RATINGS: TRACKING "MARVEL'S AGENTS OF SHIELD," you'll find charts of viewer numbers vs. the ratings, which is vastly different.
This post takes data sourced from TVByNumbers and compares Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with TV shows that air on the same time on different days, and they even compared it to the same time slot a year prior to the show actually airing.
Comic Book Resources' research shows how strong Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is doing compared to other shows. It's not as doomed as some might think it is.
And let's not forget, we've been through this before with Whedon. He's had shows like Firefly and Dollhouse get cancelled, and we're still talking about them years later because fans of the shows, particularly Firefly, felt the series wasn't given enough of a chance to end where they did.
Give Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. a chance.
Catch the return of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D on January 7, 2014, 8pm on ABC.
