CNN PRODUCER NOTE smisjm told us, 'The snowstorm during the day and evening Saturday turned into quite an impressive ice storm later Saturday night. When I woke up Sunday morning, it was a beautiful sight (if you like winter weather as I do) with just about everything covered in at least a quarter inch of ice. Interestingly (or should I say stressfully because of the weather) this past weekend was my daughter's Bat Mitzvah so all of our guests had to battle the elements during the day on Saturday and at night to get to and from the service and our celebration. Thankfully most made it to both and all made it home safely. Being born in December, I have always been in love with the winter months. I have always loved the anticipation of the big Nor'easter and the look of our area buried in a foot or more of snow after one departs. I am also a skier who has traveled out west to Colorado, Utah and California for over 35 years so to say I chase winter weather would be an understatement. There is almost nothing I find more spectacular than standing on top of Arapahoe Basin ski area at 12,500 feet above sea level and looking out across the snow covered Rocky Mountains (except for St. Moritz Switzerland which I still think is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been). If there was only one least favorite thing I could say about winter, it's the fact that it has arrived WAY too early here in the Philadelphia area this year. I played golf at my golf club less than two weeks ago on a 60 degree day and then all of a sudden, starting with the Eagles game a little over a week ago, the bottom fell out and we dove into dead of winter weather while the calendar still says fall.'
