MLSE workers picket infront of Beyonce concert in Toronto

Employees are striking in front of the Air Canada Centre for the fourth straight day. Tonight is a Beyoncé concert. The previous three nights saw a Toronto Raptors NBA game, Toronto Maple Leafs game, and a Rod Stewart concert.

Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) is trying to cut wages and not guarantee hours by contracting to outside workers. The unionized workers (Teamsters Local 847) are on strike asking for fair wages. The striking workers include cooks, servers, bartenders, housekeepers, and the conversions crew that changes the floors from basketball to hockey to concerts.  They say all they want is for MLSE not to rollback wages and to guarantee hours. MLSE owns the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL), Toronto Raptors (NBA), Toronto FC (MLS), The Air Canada Centre, Real Sports Bar and Grill, E11even Restaurant, as well as LeafsTV, GolTV, RaptorsTV, and NBA TV Canada.
