    Geminids and Star Trails

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     jhullinger, a computer security architect in Los Angeles, took Friday off and went to Joshua Tree National Park on Thursday to catch the Geminid meteor shower. He set up his tripod to take 20-second exposures from about 11 p.m. Thursday to 3 a.m. Friday (while he slept in his truck). He took about 500 photos and combined them with StarStaX, an image stacking and blending software for star trail photography.
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

Though the moon was nearly full, the Geminid meteor shower is known for having some very bright and slow moving meteors which are visible against the star trails taken near Joshua Tree National Park. An amazing time lapse artist, Jeff Frost, let me shoot the Geminids meteor shower from his latest sculpture, Circle of Abstract Rituals.
