MANILA, Philippines - US Secretary of State John F. Kerry arrived in Manila at 1:40 pm today onboard an Airbus A320neo jet with his entourage for a 2-day visit of the Philippines.

Kerry's plane landed at the Aegis hangar in NAIA where US Embassy officials and representative from the Department of Foreign Affairs headed by Ambassador Jose Cuisia greeted the secretary in his arrival before he boarded an SUV.

Security was tight at the tarmac but Kerry managed to pose for a brief photo opportunity for media before leaving for his next official stop: the US cemetery at the Fort in Makati.

Later, after the wreath laying ceremony at the US cemetery, he is scheduled to meet with President Benigno S. Aquino III and Secretary of Foreign Affairs Albert F. del Rosario.

Expected to be discussed during his meeting with President Aquino are the humanitarian assistance for typhoon victims and economic and security cooperation with the Philippines and the United States.

Kerry will fly to Tacloban tomorrow to end his 2nd day in the country.
