Sikh Prisoners issue: Urgent Appeal to Uttar-Pardesh Sikhs to join local delegation meeting UP CM

Amb Sahib/ Mohali (December 16, 2013): On December 16, 2013 the organizers of the “Bandi Singhs Riahai Morcha” initiated by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa issued an urgent appeal to the Sikh sangat, Sikh organizations, Singh Sabhas and Gurdwara management committees of Uttar Partesh to join the move for release of Bhai Wariam Singh, confined in a UP jail since 1990.
Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that Bhai Bhagel Singh, son of former UP MLA and Sikh leader Giani Harinder Singh is communicating with UP Chief Minister’s office to pursue the case of Wariam Singh for pre-mature release.
Organizers of Bandi Singh Rihai Morcha appealed that the representatives of UP’s Gurdwara Committees, Singh Sabhas, Youth bodies should contact Bhai Bhagel Singh on his phone number: 09927625610 and join the local delegation that would soon be meeting UP chief minister.
As per morcha organizers Bhai Bhagel Singh is in constant contact with UP CM’s office and is hopeful to secure urgent appointment with CM Akhilesh Yadav. They said that the time and place of meeting with UP CM shall be made public once the meeting is finalized.
It is notable that Wariam Singh and his nephew Major Singh were convicted by a TADA court in same case. Both were sentenced to undergo imprisonment for life. Major Singh was confined in a Jail in Punjab while Wariam Singh remained jailed in UP.
It is further notable that Wariam Singh’s case for pre-mature release has a firm basis as his co-convict Major Singh was release by UP government led by Akhilesh Yadav after Punjab and Haryana High Court cleared his release.
Bhai Wariam Singh is one of the six Sikhs political prisoners whose release is sought by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa. Other five Sikhs prisoners are Bhai Gurmeet Singh, Shamsher Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Lal Singh and Gurdeep Singh Khaira.
