    More from montebubbles

From A Q an A with Tom Hanks on Captain Phillips

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     montebubbles told me, 'We were extremely lucky. We had tried eight other times to get into any Q and A's with Tom Hanks. Since he is Tom Hanks it is very difficult to get any screenings where he is present. We were at the very end of the first row of available seating at the very end. From the time we started out till we returned home, it was 7 and a half hours as we waited to have a chance. Since there were so many people we were concerned we would get through the door.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

The film has been out long enough for many to have already seen it but there might be a few things about the film that you don't know that we were told during the Q&A with Tom Hanks and Barkhad Abdi

As most know is the true story of Captain Richard Phillips and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years.. It has been nominated for four Golden Globes and 2 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

One thing we found out from Barkhad Abdi was that he answered and ad in Minnesota that got him his Golden Globe and Screen Actors guild nominated role.

Also Tom hanks told us that the crew on the ship was kept away from Barkhad Abdi and the other pirates till the moment they came on board the ship and it scared the hell out of Hanks and he other actors on the ship.
Here is the big piece of info that you might have not heard before.

The film was wrapping and the ending was shot when it was mentioned to the director and Hanks that Captain Phillips had been met by his navy savior at the navy ships infirmary .

The instant the word infirmary was said Hanks and the director made a bee line for it. From this point on in the film this was the new ending and on the screen you saw why Tom Hanks has two Oscars.

None of what was seen was scripted in this new end to the film.

The film is a very good action flick and Hanks said if that was all it had been he jested that Matt Damon would have been a better choice for the lead. The ending is a text book example of what great acting is and we think that you will enjoy not only the action but this great piece of unscripted acting at end of the film.
