Well, I feel good about my prospects for an independent living home. Most require 55 or older for residents. I'm 51 and some places say they will waive that requirement since I'm on SSDI. I found a place close to my mom and brother that is barely affordable, but affordable. I already know a few people living there. They will provide 3 meals a day and weekly housekeeping. They have parking for residents with a car like me. It is in the town that I grew up in. It has enough room to fit my queen bed and office furniture with computer and TV. My brother says I can stay in his place until a room opens up. No big hurry really until spring. I already have just about everything I need. I'm really excited about being on my own again. Wish me luck it all works out.
