    ‘Yolanda’ death toll in Phl: 6,100


    THE National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday said the death toll from killer typhoon "Yolanda" (Haiyan) rose to 6,100.
    The NDRRMC said 27,665 people were injured while 1,779 remain missing. It also said Eastern Visayas registered the highest number of fatalities.
    Damage caused by “Yolanda” remains at P36.662 billion, including P18.268 billion in infrastructure and P18.354 billion in agriculture.
    The number of destroyed houses has reached 1,140,332, including 550,928 destroyed and 589,404 damaged. The total cost of government assistance for the affected families has reached P1.185 billion.
    The Department of Social and Welfare Development (DSWD) headed by Secretary Dinky Soliman has allocated P867 million; local government units (LGUs), P116 million; Department of Health (DOH), P144 million; and non-governmental organizations/other government organizations, P56 million.
