    Manhattan monuments..Written in stone!

The Port Washington sand pits recalls a lot of history, as most of Manhattan, at least 90% they say, was built from it's soul.
The immigrants mostly from Europe, also Canada, came to work and live there and distributed the sand to make the NYC buildings and monuments via barges through the Hempstead harbor and also cement trucks.
The site is now a fantastic monument I didn't know existed until today by riding by it. I took the pictures this morning as no one was there to distract me.
I might follow up with another report about how the artist Jonas created and sculptured his vision of it all. See pictures.
    December 20-2013.
    Thank you.
