Shotgun Point Blank To The Face and People Forget?

It seems over the past few days we have been distracted with Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty? We live our lives and time passes by so fast we lose track of what really matters in life? For quite a while in this country (USA) “The Value of a Human Life” has meant very little.

I know for my own brother, 2 uncles and 2 cousins “The Value of a Human Life” was probably in the mid range of $20,000. Yes they would price their life and I imagine that is what they would price their lives out at. Suicides and overdoses do that to humans. They focus in so much on the end game. “The Value of Their Own Lives” Really tosses down the value.

Phil Robertson after his display of who is going to recieve the glory of what his god has to provide? I imagine his is up there quite a ways lets see they say that they have made over $400,000,000 in sales and salaries for their shows and sales of their goods. They have taken their own lives and really jacked up the price of their lives. These guys are those that made duck calls

But for the past week 1 little girl 17 years old fought for life as she took a shotgun blast to the face at Arapahoe High School in Colorado. This was not just a fight for life but a life of principle. I remember the headline being in the days afterwards "She is a young lady of principle" As her family and friends grieve today?

What have we as Americans done so wrong that we no longer value the human life? Because in all instances I see a very large amount of value. That value is not in the drugs taken or the alcohol imbibed before the overdoses and suicides. That value is not in sales of merchandise and duck calls. That value is not on some reality tv set or duck call in the wilderness or some swampy area. Or in some religious book.

That value was in the 17 years leading up to Claire Davis final days. That value was the smile that sparks in the photo. That value was in the very first time her mother or father held her. That value continues on today as they have finally said their goodbyes and it will continue on because she is a “Young Lady of Principal.

I have to say I am one of the guilty few who got sidetracked with the new news article and forgetting shamefully about her suffering and her friends and families suffering.

I shamefully got mixed up in the news about Phil Robertson's tyraid that means nothing to me now. Me as a man and a father am ashamed of the very woman I was wanting to keep track of and instead I paid attention to someone I have never even seen on television.

To be honest I won't watch Duck Dynasty because I never did before because I was never interested in it before. Instead I will now forever remember Claire Davis name now and the reason is not because I forgot but because I now would like to be a “Man of Principal.”

Tomorrow when we drive to work smile at the person next to you. Show that person you can smile because life is short. We only get so much time for our principals ro be applied.

To the young men who are suffering and they need to release any anger. Do not shoot up a school, commit suicide, Or get so wrapped up in life that your value is only paper thin.

When I was a homeless teen I was angry. I could not stand my parents or the people around me. I tried to numb myself with whatever possible. This is not the route to go.

If your gathering guns and ammo and getting ready to shoot something else up and wanting to commit suicide? Don't destroy the human value of others. They may be a really important person who loves the “Value of a Human Life” Just like you do.
