Merry Christmas to All on Ireports
For the first time in seven years I happen to be off both Christmas Eve......and Christmas Day.....so I am grateful.
I have my health, mind, and my wonderful husband and beautiful daughter...who got her Christmas wish early... and I am grateful.
I hate to shop.....so this holiday causes a lot of angst leading up to the holiday, but shopping is done...so I am grateful.
I am blessed to do the work I love, where how much I make does not matter....so I am grateful....
I would like to wish all of you a Very Merry Christmas.
It is 60 humid degrees in Jersey....but it will be cold for Christmas...and for that I am also grateful.
I would like to leave you with some Christmas quotes... and images....
Pic #1 Birch tree forest…..I have very fond memories in Stowe Vermont waking up to a forest much like this one Christmas morning…..
Pic #5 Bow Bridge Central Park and The Dakota……
Pic #6 Plaza Princesa, Vigo Spain…..where I played every day when I lived in Spain….
Pic #7 Sagrada Familia Barcelona Spain, Roman Catholic Church designed by Antoni Gaudi which should be completed in 2026……truly a sight to see…..
Pic #8 Santiago de Compostela Cathedral about a half hour from where I grew up…and believed to be the burial place of Saint James the Great….one of Christ’s apostles….also part of the pilgrimage route since the Early Middle Ages……
Pic # 9 Notre Dame, Paris…..my favorite Cathedral….the architecture is stunning…only Sagrada Familia which is just a church….surpasses it’s beauty in my eyes….
Pic #10 My eternal and never wavering wish for Peace on Earth……
“The main reason Santa is so jolly is because he knows where all the bad girls live.”
― George Carlin
This whole Santa Claus thing just doesn't make sense. Why all the secrecy? Why all the mystery?
If the guy exists why doesn't he ever show himself and prove it?
And if he doesn't exist what's the meaning of all this?
I dunno. Isn't this a religious holiday?
Yeah, but actually, I've got the same questions about God.”
― Bill Watterson
“Oh look, yet another Christmas TV special! How touching to have the meaning of Christmas brought to us by cola, fast food, and beer.... Who'd have ever guessed that product consumption, popular entertainment, and spirituality would mix so harmoniously? ”
― Bill Watterson,
“In the old days, it was not called the Holiday Season; the Christians called it 'Christmas' and went to church; the Jews called it 'Hanukkah' and went to synagogue; the atheists went to parties and drank. People passing each other on the street would say 'Merry Christmas!' or 'Happy Hanukkah!' or (to the atheists) 'Look out for the wall!”
― Dave Barry
“The Supreme Court has ruled that they cannot have a nativity scene in Washington, D.C. This wasn't for any religious reasons. They couldn't find three wise men and a virgin.”
― Jay Leno
“A lovely thing about Christmas is that it's compulsory, like a thunderstorm, and we all go through it together.”
― Garrison Keillor, Leaving Home
My favorite Christmas quote.......
“Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!”
― Dr. Seuss, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
And a sign which I received this Christmas from Secret Santa at work......which sums up my philosophy pretty well.....
Being an atheist is okay.....
Being an atheist and shaming religions and spiritually as silly and not real, is not okay.....
Being a Christian is okay.......
Being a homophobic, misogynistic, racist, or otherwise hateful person in the name of Christianity is not okay....
Being a reindeer is okay......
Bullying and excluding another reindeer because he has a shiny red nose, is not okay........
Merry Christmas to all the Christians, atheists, and reindeer....Here on ireports..
